Bro. Hildebrand teaching the Prison Prevention Concepts

The Prison Prevention Program is an informative general or single class assembly presentation given by a Rock of Ages Prison Prevention representative at no cost to the public schools. These interactive and illustrative seminars are non-religious and can be presented in the public school forum.

These presentations chronicle a prescription that can help young people to make responsible and careful decisions. It lists some staggering statistics and also uses visual graphics, including some from inside prison.

These presentations emphasize positive Character Development, Abstinence, and being responsible for one's own life. There are three presentations available:

1. A Cause for Abstinence
2. A Question of Character
3. A Strategy for Success

Prison Prevention Update

Jeff Bellamy

While in the prisons of America we have found a common denominator among all inmate population. There are specific missing character traits. These missing character traits are especially prominent in the juvenile populations. We have taken these missing character traits and have developed a program called prison prevention in which we teach them through a series of lessons called "Character Under Construction". "Character Under Construction" is designed for the public school classroom. According to the laws governing the public schools, any instruction about the Bible or examples from it must be taught neutral, objective and academic. Where permitted, Bible Clubs are formed for more specific and detailed instructions for a voluntary, called out assembly. In the public school classroom, we use History, English and Science to teach honesty, forgiveness, friendship, kindness, respect, patience, compassion, contentment, commitment, and devotion. we use the lives of many historical figures as well as various topics to help the students understand these character traits and how to apply them to their lives. For example, we do not just simply tell the students that they should forgive someone for who has committed a wrong against them. We teach them how to forgive by showing the student that forgiveness is not a emotion but rather a purposeful choice to be made.
