Thanksgiving and Christmas, two days like any others on a calendar or, special days set aside by the believer to give thanks unto the Lord for His goodness and mercy. In 1 Thessalonians 5:18 the Bible instructs us, “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” While Thanksgiving and Christmas are for most people a joyful, happy time of the year, they can be the loneliest and darkest times of the year for others, inside or outside of prison walls. Yet, Christmas is all about undoing loneliness! Isaiah 7:14 foretold the promise of a Savior “...Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” meaning ‘God with us’. For God’s child, true thanksgiving begins in the heart and flows outward to God and others. Our Christian walk should be marked by words of praise to God and deeds of kindness to others.
Daily, God opens great doors of opportunity for ministry through Rock of Ages Ministries to anybody wanting to make an eternal difference in the lives of others, and this year’s holiday project is: Thanksgiving Bibles For Inmates. |
